I have recently declared red wine as the best drink. Now this may not be everyone’s opinion but I know there are a ton of you out there who love their wine as much as I do… and this event is perfect for us! For the month of November you can “Taste the Season” here in Niagara with delicious wine and food pairings from many of our favourite wineries.
The wineries around the Niagara region do such a wonderful job making sure that there are lots of events to enjoy Niagara’s gems (not the waterfalls… the wineries). We have discussed a few of them in our blog from chocolate pairings to winter cocktails. It is the perfect excuse for locals to get out and appreciate what is in our own backyards and gives visitors something to do every weekend in November.
This year Taste the Season is featuring over 25 wineries, which I think could keep you very busy throughout the month. The passes are $44.25 (plus tax) and it allows you to try all the tastings featured. To get your taste buds going, check out some of these exciting pairings that you can enjoy!
– Lailey Vineyard is putting together a 2010 Chardonnay and a spiced squash soup with asiago and rosemary shortbreads (sounds perfect for a chilly afternoon in November)
– Pondview Estate Winery is pairing a 2010 Bella Terra Barrel-Fermented Chardonnay with diced sweet roasted red pepper and creamy smoked salmon tartlet (FANCY!)
– Jackson-Triggs is featuring a 2012 Black Series Meritage with house cured back bacon and St. Paulin Grilled Cheese, on roasted garlic bread with garden tomato and bacon jam (loving the upgrade on such a casual sandwich… seems you can find a wine pairing for everything)
